It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Albert Schinzel on 12 September 2025.

Albert has served as the president of ESHG as well as ECA in the past. He was known for his deep and extensive knowledge on all aspects of Clinical Genetics. In recent years he was best known for his most coveted and successful annual course on Clinical Cytogenetics held in the Goldrain Castle in South Tyrol, Italy. The Clinical Genetics community has lost a one of its most knowledgeable geneticists and a dedicated teacher.
